So I found this article about Islam in Indonesia and its line on homosexuality. It's a lovely article.

The comments are, of course, a minefield of religious bigotry, liberal atheists and badly spelled arguments on either side.

Then there's this comment in response to a comment by a more hard-line Muslim poster:

So you would become the judge of man & not leave such things to the will of Allah, blessed be his name. Is it not a greater sin to commit murder? Or to sanction it? Do you remember the Holocaust of the Jewish people, or do you forget your brothers of Abraham? Do you not think that there but for the will of God go yourselves? Do you not see the essential teaching of Islam is the Struggle for Peace? If you believe that all homosexual people (who may be your own brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers, uncles & aunties) should be put to death do not be surprised if the people of other faiths & beliefs in the world do not accept your right to rule them. Islam is being hijacked by Nazis/fascists to the detriment of Islam. Do you know anything of Dara Shikoh, son of Shah Jahan, his seminal work called the 'mingling of two oceans'? I recommend you to look at this work as a piece of interfaith dialogue & understanding. What about the great flowering of Islamic culture in the medieval period by romantic poets such as Abu Nawas? Do you not think there are many examples within Islamic history that shows Islam was in many cases more tolerant in the past towards homosexuals, in fact finding them to be an invaluable part to enriching Islamic cultures further. Do you not see that the intolerance in Islam towards other faiths & cultures in the past 300 years may have been to it's detriment. Where is the true development of culture & glory going to these days?

Yes, yes, hello, I'm fine, how are you.

Yes! So the third installment of my secret Santa gift came today. Let's have a recap, shall we?

Day 1: Loopy, italic writing on envelope. Single playing card (4 of spades) with a letter "r". Note (typed) reading, "Hi Lupie, this is part i of your secret santa present. There will be no further explainations."

Day 2: Spikey, untidy handwriting on envelope. Two playing cards (3 of both diamonds and clubs) with a letter "n" attached to the 3 of clubs.

Day 3: Typed envelope. Three playing cards (2 of hearts, clubs and spades) with the letters "s" and "e" attached to the 2 of spades and hearts respectively.

Further observations: the letters glued to the cards tend to come off in the post. I had assumed that they were stuck to the face of the card, but the "e" remained attached to the card on which it was sent, indicating that they had been glued to the reverse.

Hard to tell what order the cards should be in, due to them getting shuffled up in the post. Can currently be used to spell ...well, nothing that makes sense.

Tomorrow, I predict four cards, all of which are aces. ~~I hope the gift ends in my getting kidnapped and taken away to an underground lair or something.~~

Last night was awesome. :) I wish, however, that I had a) worn more sensible dancing shoes (must find more platform boots with a mild rake to the heel - morris dancing in 6" heels is so painful!) and that b) Duncan's set had been earlier, because he played ++++wingasm stuff and I wished I could have danced moar, but my feet were fucking killing me.

I <3 dancing so much, but now I ache everywhere. OH WELL DANCING ++++

Errrrrrrrrr and I braided things into Helen's hair and that was fun :) And there were lots of friends and that was fun, too. :D Leo was wearing a jacket made of LIGHTS and it was all very exciting.

Annnnnd I got danced on by a hot lady and an also hot man. The evening was full of hot and I didn't know what to do with myself for once, ha. Mmm... people.

Today? Back to the job applications. *sigh* Oh! And the interview for the agency yesterday went really nicely. The lady managing my case is a cool person whose make-up was totally immaculate with very good blending and sound contouring. ...LET IT NEVER BE SAID THAT I AM NOT SHALLOW. :D Anyway, she was fascinated by my desire to get into the games industry and said she'd make me her pet project. She has contacts in Nicetech and Sony, and does temping supplies for Sony, so fingers crossed.

Speaking of Sony, their address in Cambridge is no-where to be found. I told the lady (Danielle) this, and she smiled and said that they are really secretive and don't release their address unless your visit is 100% confirmed. I immediately got extremely excited and asked her if their offices are, in fact, underground. And whether the boss of the company is a top-hat-and-tails attired older gentleman with nefarious facial hair and a high-backed leather chair. She laughed and said that it's all actually really boring and normal there. I immediately said it was a front. She narrowed her eyes and said, "Actually, you know, I've never met the person who runs it all. And there's plenty of places I've not been allowed into... and the way in is by pressing a hidden panel of buttons in a brick wall in a certain sequence and then the pedestrian crossing opens up - I've said too much!!"

I think I'm going to like her. :)

A lovely support site for childlovers.

So I've read through this website, keeping an open mind, maintaining neutrality as best as I can, but I still get stuck at one thing that's never satifactorarily answered in plain language:

If you are sexually attracted to children and seek to have a relationship with one, what happens when the kid grows up? Do you stop fancying them? What then? If it is, as this website says, a sexual orientation as opposed to a lifestyle choice, I find myself trying to equate it with what happens if one member of a heterosexual couple changes sex.

Is it equatable? I know of cases of the latter where the relationship has broken down, and I know of relationships where it has been worked on. The former outweighs the latter, unfortunately.

Is it the same here, then? When the child is no longer a child, do they cease to be attractive, because the childlover is, by definition, attracted to children?

Food for thought. I can't stop the monologue of "No, they are children; no, they cannot give informed consent; no, they are children, etc" at the back of my head no matter which way I look at this.

Today with mum has been good. I am going to do some voluntary work, which is good for the XP (next level gets me two feats!! TWO!!) but not so good for the gold-o-meter, but never mind.

Anyway, I'm in my sib's room at Queens; her keyboard is hard to navigate because it is complicated and has hidden seekrit buttons; my mum thinks that short hair would really suit me (yes, I was just waiting for parental go-ahead, haha); and I need to take a nap.

Well, next time someone asks me "What's your concept of the world?" or "What do you think the meaning of life is?" - actually, no-one's ever asked me that; I wish they would, because that'd be interesting, but all people tend to ask me is if my hair's real - I can just point them at In The Mouth Of Madness and say pretty much that.

It's dated now, of course, but the ideas still hold true. It's like someone looked inside my head and made a film of it.

And, uh, if you've ever seen In The Mouth Of Madness, you'll now understand a bit more about why I am the way I am. I wouldn't blame you if you're a little worried - believe me, I've been worried, too, but have long since decided to scrap worry for something a little more pro-active - but honestly, it's nothing to worry about.

Okay, so I don't know how that interview went at all. It went... er, well, I guess? But it's really hard to tell because my interviewer was a strange and not-easily-connected-with man.

I think... well, er. No, I have no idea. The job looks really, really awesome and the company is tiiiny and gorgeous, but I have the horrible feeling they'll want someone with more glamour, whizz and experience than I, and they'll get one. Apparently, they had a "good response" (i.e. 90,000,000 people who are better than me at everything) to the advert, and they'll get back to me tomorrow.

Ugh. I don't think I've got it, but... damn. Perfect job, y/y. :/ One can but hope. Anyway.

Doing some creative writing! How weird. I'm going to have to paint all over my face to make up for it, of course.

Additionally, my interweb connection is being uncharacteristically slow today. Don't really know what to make of that, so I won't.
